I am growing out my pubes for the boy.
It’s taking a long time, though, since I am very un-hairy in general. I feel like a junior high boy trying to grow a mustache—it’s wispy and lame.
What will I do in the summer? Go back to waxing? It’s going to hurt all over again. If you’re waxing enough, it doesn’t really hurt anymore.
I kind of like getting waxed, actually. I enjoy my visits to Joanne at Fashion Nails. Before getting a manicure, I go to a backroom and lay on a cot, staring at an out-of-date calendar advertising a Chinese restaurant in Manhattan. Joanne pours hot wax on me, blowing gently to cool it, before ripping it off in strips. She is very serious and rough, but thorough. Sometimes, to my surprise, she murmurs an unexpected compliment while blowing the hot wax, “Very pretty.”

A further update on the Magic Wand. Here’s a tip: If you reach the stage where you feel like you almost go blind, where you see a white light, and then you sort of feel numb, and you’re like, fuck. Did I come? KEEP GOING. Because what comes next is FUCKING AMAZING.
